  7. okay, here's the text of the Hash and Weed Tips, available at The
  8. Grasshopper, in Amsterdam.  I don't personally agree with everything,
  9. but found the handout intriguing.  Oh, and Trent -- you said that
  10. some people on this net have a scientific orientation, and some
  11. have an orientation through experience...but some people might just
  12. have both :-)  -- but your post was greatly appreciated because I'm
  13. a big fan of keeping talk on the net respectful and kind :-)

  16. Throughout the world and through the centuries, Hash and weed have been
  17. used by people from different cultures.  But like with other stimulants,
  18. using hash and weed is not without risk.  This is why we have compiled a
  19. few hints for:
  20. *Sensible use*
  21. -Hash and weed originate from the cannabis plant (cannabis sativa).  The
  22. effective substance is called Tetra-hydro-cannibol (THC).  It's effect
  23. lasts 2 to 4 hours.  Hash and weed affect our consciousness, so that one
  24. starts feeling comfortable.  Some people become talkative, others
  25. reserved.  Some become active, others relaxed, one does not know in
  26. advance how it will effect one; it may work out differently every time.
  27. -Use hash for your pleasure, but not to smoke away stress and
  28. uncertainty. You do not solve problems by lighting a joint.
  29. *More advice*
  30. -Your concentration will diminish when using hash and weed.  Sometimes
  31. you even forget, what you said a moment before.  So do not use at
  32. school, at your work or if you still have to study.
  33. -Your reactions will also diminish under the influence of hash, so do not
  34. drive!
  35. -Eating hash or weed, like space cake, should be advised against.
  36. Especially in the case of inexperienced users it could have a totally
  37. adverse effect.
  38. -Hash and weed often do not mix with alcohol.
  39. -Sometimes you can become quite sick after using hash and weed; if this
  40. happens, find a quiet spot and eat or drink something sweet.  AFter an
  41. hour the worst will have passed.
  42. *Who should not...?*
  43. -Do not use hash or weed if you take medicines.   This also applies to
  44. diabetics and epileptics.  And do not smoke when you are pregnant.
  45. Do not buy hash and weed in the street.  find a cosy hash coffee shop,
  46. and let people inform you about what to buy.
  47. Avoid problems, do not carry hash or weed with you when you cross
  48. borders.
